In the years 1759 - 1790 many Moravians travelled from Denmark/Germany to Tranquebar. They settled in the area we know as Brother Garden or Salomon Garden just outside Tranquebar town. Here they founded their own society.

Below you see a list of the persons who went abroad and also about the persons who went on to the Nicobar Islands.

The Moravians: The Brethren Congregation, Evangelical – Christian society, come out of The Bohemian Brethren. 1722 a group in exile from the count Zinzendorf had the permission on the lands of his estate to build up the town of Herrnhut ( The Shield of the Lord ) – where they 1727 constituted themselves as the so called Brethren Society, whose only guidelines were to be The Holy Bible. Deepest belief in Christ, discipline of the community and extreme heroism in their mission characterize the Herrnhut people, who after 1760 turned into an independent church society with a synod in the lead; to-day there are independent societies in North – and South –America, Germany, Great Britain – and an extended mission of heathens. This one was for a period characterized by a strongly emotional intonation of pietism, and as a revivalist movement it spread out to most of the Evangelical countries. 1772 The Brethren Congregation in Christiansfeld, Sønderjylland, was established.
