Nagai museum gets rare Krishna idol

Tranquebar, April 26: A ‘panchaloha’ idol of Lord Krishna,
dating back to the 16th century, and some pieces of ‘tiruvasi’
(arch) and ‘aruval’ (knife), unearthed in Nagapattinam
district three years ago were handed over to the Nagapattinam
Archaeological Museum recently.
Dr Kannan, then commissioner of Archaeology, had allotted these
“finds” to the museum.
These pieces were unearthed in Nalladai village, near Porayar,
in Nagapattinam.
Following an order by Sudeep Jain, Nagapattinam district
collector, the Tranquebar tahsildar handed over the idol to the
curator of the Nagapattinam museum. (Agencies)
